Dan has always been focused on the issues important to families in Flint, Saginaw, Bay City and Midland—issues like creating good-paying jobs, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, fixing our roads and ensuring clean and affordable drinking water for all. Dan knows what can be accomplished when we set aside partisanship—because his record proves that he’ll work hard, and is willing to work with anyone, to get things done.

Responding to the pandemic, Dan helped pass a relief bill to help his district & the country come back from Covid-19 hardships. To fix our roads, Dan brought Republicans and Democrats together to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and pour resources into re-building our country’s infrastructure. To protect the Great Lakes and ensure clean water, Dan successfully fought to fully invest in the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative while leading the fight in Congress to ensure clean, affordable and safe drinking water for all.

Before being elected to Congress, Dan created the Genesee County Land Bank, which helped to strengthen neighborhoods and reduce crime by redeveloping thousands of homes and buildings. He also founded the Center for Community Progress, a non-profit organization focused on bringing new economic development to older, industrial communities.

For Dan, Michigan is home. He was born and raised in Flint, and raised his family in mid-Michigan. He and his wife, Jennifer, currently reside in Flint Township. Dan has three children, Ryan, Kenneth and Katy and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Colin.
